Benefits of the Urban classic massage

  • A great introductory treatment that works for everyone in need of a massage

  • Expect a light, gentle touch, mixed with light to medium pressure, that comes together to soothe and rejuvenate your mind and body

  • Perfect if you feel tense, tired or just in need of some TLC

Our recommendation

“Classic is the operative word here,” says our lead therapist, Nadège. “This treatment uses Swedish massage techniques to release muscle tension, improve circulation and decrease tenderness. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a massage, helping you feel calm and relaxed with light to medium pressure and long, flowing strokes.”

During your treatment

Your therapist will use massage oils or lotions to soften your muscles.

Expect long, slow strokes and gentle-but-firm pulling and pressing to gently warm your muscle tissue.

We bet you’re feeling chilled out just reading this, right?

More info about the Urban classic and Swedish massage

The Urban classic is a full-body massage treatment with medium pressure that can help with knots, tension, back pain and relieving stress. All Urban classic treatments start with a consultation to work out what you need from your treatment, then a massage which includes your head, hands and feet.

The Urban classic is loosely based on a traditional Swedish massage, in that it’s medium pressure, full body, and uses techniques to release tension. Your therapist will further personalise the treatment to your needs, whether that’s more tension-releasing work or calming techniques for stress relief.

Pressure is the key difference. Deep tissue treatments use strong pressure to work out knots and tension, while an Urban classic uses less pressure, making it a more relaxing treatment for people who like their massages with a slightly lighter touch.

No, it's not recommended. Try our specialist pregnancy massage instead, suitable from your second trimester.

To keep you and your therapist safe, it’s important to hold off on getting a massage if you’re unwell with a fever or flu-like symptoms, or if you have a contagious skin disease. Therapists have the right to cancel your treatment if they think it will harm you or them in any way.

If you have a health condition and you’re not sure about booking a massage, consult your GP for advice beforehand.
