Lymphatic drainage’s stronger sibling
Brazilian lymphatic drainage (BLD) is a firmer, more focused version of lymphatic drainage massage and is often used to help with recovery after post-cosmetic surgery.
It isn’t about sculpting or slimming – it’s about getting your body back to baseline after procedures like liposuction, tummy tucks or BBL.
More pressure, more focus
Compared to manual lymphatic drainage massage, this treatment uses firmer, more rhythmic strokes to encourage lymph flow.
Supports post-surgery healing
Helps with swelling, discomfort and fluid retention following cosmetic procedures (always check with your surgeon before booking).
Encourages your body’s natural process
BLD helps your lymph system gradually move along excess fluid, waste and water weight.
After a quick consultation, your Urban pro will tailor the massage to your current stage of recovery, focusing on areas where swelling or fluid build-up is most present.
During treatment expect firmer, faster strokes than traditional lymphatic massage. It’s hands-on and results-focused, typically using oil and targeting areas like the stomach, legs, arms and back.
You may feel tender during or after – especially if you’re in early recovery. That’s normal, but always let your pro know what feels comfortable.
We recommend a course of 6–12 sessions for best results. Your pro can advise based on how you’re healing.
Looking for a gentler approach? Try manual lymphatic drainage massage instead.

Learn more about Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage
It’s a more firm and targeted form of lymphatic drainage massage – most often used as part of post-cosmetic surgery recovery.
It helps your body move fluid more effectively, which can assist with swelling, water retention and general post-op discomfort.
The strokes are deeper, the pace is slightly faster and the aim is practical: encourage movement of excess fluid, reduce puffiness and support healing.
Don't book if:
You're pregnant; try a specialist pregnancy treatment instead which you can have after your first trimester.
You have an active infection or blood clots, diabetes, an immunodeficiency disorder, epilepsy, a heart condition or pacemaker, or if you’re taking anticoagulant medicines. If you’d like to go ahead with treatment anyway, you’ll need to get written permission from your GP
It’ll depend on what your body needs, but typically:
Legs and feet: To reduce swelling and improve circulation, especially in the thighs, calves and ankles.
Arms and hands: To help with fluid retention and stimulate lymph nodes in the armpits.
Back: Particularly along the spine and around the shoulder blades to encourage lymphatic flow.
Neck and shoulders: To target the lymph nodes in the neck and reduce tension.
Face: To reduce puffiness and improve lymphatic drainage around the jawline and cheeks.
Abdomen: This is a key area for stimulating the lymphatic system.
Your pro will use a mix of gentle, rhythmic strokes and firmer pressure to move lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes, promoting detoxification and reducing swelling throughout the body.
They’ll avoid any areas you don’t want worked on – just let them know.
In short: pressure and purpose.
Manual lymphatic drainage is very light, slow and sometimes relaxing. Brazilian lymphatic drainage is firmer, more hands-on and often used after a surgery to help with swelling and fluid movement.
Our standard Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage lasts 60 minutes including set up and consultation time, and will target key areas. For a full-body treatment, please choose the 75-minute option.
Your therapist may recommend extending your treatment if they feel you'd benefit from a longer session.
For an at-home Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage, wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing. Before treatment, your therapist will give you privacy to undress to your underwear and cover yourself with a towel.
Everyone’s recovery is different, but we recommend booking a course of 6 to 12 sessions. Your pro can suggest a plan based on your needs and how far along you are in the healing process.
Yep, that’s what it’s for! But only once your surgeon has confirmed it’s safe. BLD is commonly used after procedures like:
Liposuction
Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
BBL
Breast augmentation
It’s not a cure-all, but it can help make the recovery process more comfortable and reduce lingering swelling.
