Whatever-weather bank holiday inspiration

Share

Come rain or shine, you’ll definitely want to make the most of the bank holiday weekend. We’ve put our heads together to come up with some inspiration that’ll help you make the most of your three days off, whether you’re cosied up indoors or treating the park as your own personal kingdom.

Come rain

Be a culture vulture

Use that extra day off to free your inner culture vulture and let it swoop into all your favorite museums, exhibitions and galleries. Immersing yourself (and your brain) in new experiences can be a welcome break from the monotony of spreadsheets, letting your hardworking noggin challenge itself in new ways.

Get a sweat on

Bad weather days are perfect gym days. So, if it’s raining cats and dogs outside, join the gym bunnies at your local leisure centre. Set aside a dedicated amount of time so that you can plan your workout into your day and treat yourself to some post workout nutrition that will leave you feeling re-energised after.

Googlebox it up

Close the curtains, get cosy, and settle down to watch your favourite box set. Make a day of it by inviting friends over and getting some healthy snacks in – you’re gonna need a lot to see you through! If the weather’s bad,  sometimes all you need is friends, the other Friends and some good food to help you unwind at the end of a long week.

Come Shine

Hit the pavement

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or not, embrace the good weather, lace up and go for a run outside. Running’s not your thing? A park workout might be just the ticket. Exercising outside is great for soaking up some much needed vitamin D, breathing in fresh air, and reigniting your passion for exercise. Just be sure to stay hydrated and put on high factor suncream so you aren’t filled with post workout regrets.

Escape the city

Leaving the city to visit the countryside, even for a day, can do the world of good for both the mind and body. The change of scenery and break in routine can help you relax and unwind in a new surrounding. Being out and about in the fresh air will help to blow away the polluted city cobwebs leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to take control of the week ahead.

Cool down

If you’re planning in staying in the city for the weekend then you’ll more than likely be in desperate need of somewhere to cool off. Head to your local lido for some respite from the city heat. Whether it’s Brockwell Lido in Brixton, the giant Tooting Bec lido in south west London, or London Fields Lido in Hackney, get there early, grab a good spot and jump right in!
