We caught up with Urban pro Bjorn to find out what he enjoys most about being a massage therapist and what wellness means to him.

Hey Bjorn! Mind telling us what treatments you offer on Urban?

Urban Classic, Deep Tissue, Relaxing, Energising, Essential Deep Tissue and Express massage.

How long have you been practicing?

Eight years.

What made you want to become a massage therapist?

Having trained and worked as a dancer for over 14 years, I received regular treatments within the shows I performed in. Out of natural interest and respect for my body, this progressed in wanting to know more and share that knowledge and care with others.

What do you enjoy the most about being a massage therapist?

Making people feel good, reminding them how incredible their bodies are. Also meeting people, you get to meet some fascinating characters and hear some wonderful stories.

What’s your standout highlight of working as a massage therapist?

Traveling, I’ve been able to take my work with me wherever I decide to be.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your clients?

To try to not focus on the issue too much. Be aware and considerate of it, but focus more on how amazing your body is, given regular treatments and self care.

How do you like to unwind after a day of bookings?

Depends on the day! Wine, good food, a walk, a bath, terrible TV.

What does wellness mean to you and how have you introduced wellness into your daily routine?

Wellness to me is being kind to yourself, making considered decisions. Are you practicing self-care (of any kind) because you feel you should, or because you feel you truly want it and deserve it. Following trends and filling voids with wellness can be just as harmful if overdone or done with the wrong intention.

What do you like to do on your day off?

Be outside if possible, a good view or the seaside to get some headspace. A good restaurant, friends, live gigs and good old dance.

Do you ever book treatments for yourself?

Without fail, every week or two. I go between massage, acupuncture, osteopathy and facials.

What pocket of London do you live in and what’s your favourite thing about it?

I live in Camberwell, it’s wonderful. Amazing restaurants, lovely neighbours and very accessible.
