Urban for teams: spotlight on eduMe

Urban has been providing in-office massage for mobile based-training platform eduMe for the last two and half years as part of their employee benefits scheme. We caught up with Marnie, Head of People to find out why eduMe chose Urban when looking at employee benefits and why this partnership works so well for them.

Hey Marnie, do you mind telling us in a nutshell what eduMe is?

eduMe is a mobile-based training platform for the deskless workforce, used by modern companies in more than 60 countries worldwide. We currently have offices in LA and London, with nearly 20 people in our US office and just over 70 in the UK.

Our mission is to give everyone the opportunity to be successful at work, and our vision is to provide the deskless workforce with seamless access to relevant knowledge.

When looking at eduMe’s employee benefits, why did you choose Urban?

We wanted to offer our employees a benefit that was actually beneficial to their health and wellbeing, rather than just paying lip service to it – and Urban offered a variety of different activities, with an easy-to-book online platform, which was perfect! The customer service is excellent and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of the treatments and classes we’ve had through them.

How does Urban align with the business’ direction/objectives?

eduMe cares a lot about its employees’ wellbeing, and working with Urban is one of the ways we ensure that we keep our team happy and healthy.

I think we can all agree the last few years have been quite stressful. What challenges have you faced this year as a result of the pandemic? How did Urban help?

We’re a hybrid company, which means although we realise there are lots of things we can do (better) without doing them in an office, we also acknowledge that it’s really hard to replace in-person collaboration when you’re trying to do something creatively or in a group. This in-office collaboration was particularly difficult to organise during the pandemic, with the various lockdowns in London and the constantly changing rules – Urban were fantastic with adapting quickly to changing advice and ensuring we could provide in-office perks like massages for the times that we were allowed to meet in person.

What’s your experience been like working with Urban? What’s been the best thing about it?

We love Urban! Honestly, the fortnightly massage we get from George is one of the highlights of my week, for sure. It’s definitely a perk that has a genuine impact on the wellbeing of our staff – that 20 minutes a week really does help with relaxation and sore muscles. It’s super easy to book online, and the feedback has been just overwhelmingly positive from everyone.

Great to hear, please tell us what feedback have you had from your team?

Everybody loves Urban – it’s always a talking point when it’s ‘massage day’ and it definitely adds to our positive vibes in the office!

Finally, how have you found the overall process of working with Urban for teams?

Urban for teams is great – the lovely team responds really quickly to any queries or requests we might have, and they were really supportive over the various lockdowns in fitting around our schedule in the office, and making it work for us – even when we had to make some short notice adjustments.
