What documents and qualifications do I need to join Urban?

We’ll ask you to upload a few documents as part of your online application.

Required for all services:

  • Photo ID
    Passport or UK driving licence (plus a visa and biometric residence permit if you’re a non-EU national)
  • DBS check
    An enhanced DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months. If you don’t have one, we’ll help you apply through our partner uCheck.
  • Insurance
    Public liability insurance covering all treatments you want to offer. Some services may require additional cover
  • Proof of address
    Two recent utility bills or bank statements (dated within the last 3 months)

Required for specific services:

Massage treatments:

  • UK Level 3 massage qualification
  • If trained abroad: ENIC translation required
  • CPD certificates needed for:

    • Deep tissue

    • Pregnancy massage
    • Thai massage
    • Lymphatic drainage
    • Sports massage
    • Reflexology

Injury/pain management:

  • Level 5 soft tissue therapy diploma or equivalent, or
  • BSc in Physiotherapy or
  • Degree in Osteopathy

Osteopathy:

  • Degree in osteopathy
  • Registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC)
  • Full insurance

Physiotherapy:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Full insurance

Beauty – nails, waxing, facials

  • NVQ Level 2 in beauty therapy (or equivalent)
  • Public liability insurance
  • For facials: use professional-grade products that meet these requirements

Beauty – eyelash extensions

  • Accredited lash extension course
  • Portfolio of work required
  • Public liability insurance

Beauty – brows

  • Accredited brow course
  • Public liability insurance
  • Portfolio of work required

You need these documents to prove your right to work in the UK

We accept documents listed under government guidelines to confirm your right to work.

Permanent right to work (no expiry):

  • UK/EEA/Swiss passport
  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) showing indefinite leave to remain
  • Naturalisation or registration certificate + National Insurance (NI) number
  • UK birth or adoption certificate + proof of NI number
  • Home Office documents confirming settled status or permanent residence

Temporary right to work:

  • BRP or visa showing time-limited permission to work
  • Immigration status document with valid work endorsement + NI proof
  • Residence card for EEA/Swiss family members
  • Certificate of application (less than 6 months old) + Home Office verification
    Application registration card + Home Office verification
