Offering Brazilian lymphatic drainage

What is Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage?

Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage is recommended after cosmetic surgeries to help with maximizing the effects of them and to help the healing process. It activates the lymphatic system and then uses rhythmic strokes, cupping and circular movements. Some of these techniques are firmer but they shouldn’t be painful. The treatment will help with body contouring, reducing water retention, bloating and cellulite.

What are the minimum requirements?

You must have a L3 massage qualification, plus an in-person CPD certificate in Brazilian lymphatic drainage (we do not accept online courses)

Is 60 minutes enough for a full body Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage?

We recommend 75 minutes for a full body Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage. A 60 minute treatment can be achieved by spending less time on the clients back, and focussing attention on the front of the body, where all of the major nodes are positioned.

If a client would like a full treatment, we recommend that they extend by 15 minutes. Here’s how you can do that.

What is the difference between Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage and Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage massage?

Manual lymphatic drainage massage is done without using any massage medium, it’s a “dry” treatment. It uses very gentle, superficial techniques which help with the decongestion of the lymphatic and circulatory system. It boosts the immune system, reduces swelling and has a very soothing, calming effect.

Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage uses massage medium. It starts with activating the lymph nodes with some gentler pumping techniques, then it starts using rhythmic strokes, cupping and circulatory movements which are firmer than the techniques used in manual lymphatic drainage massage, but they shouldn’t be painful. It helps with body contouring, reducing water retention, bloating and cellulite.
