How to use the Templates feature

What are Templates?

Templates are a feature that allows you to add different groups of service areas to different times and days on your calendar.

Check out the video below for a walkthrough on how to create and use service area templates:

Make sure you click ‘save’ to ensure that the template has saved. You are responsible for managing your templates and if you forget to save, the usual cancellation policy will still apply.

How do I allocate availability to a service area template?

After creating it, you can apply your custom template to any hours you add to your diary in the Hero app.

Where can I find Templates in the Hero app?

You can find Templates in the ‘Profile’ section of the Hero app under the tab ‘Service Area Templates.’

How many Templates can I create?

Technically, you can create as many as you want. However, we do recommend starting slow as having too many templates can become confusing or difficult to manage.

How can I benefit from Templates?

Here are some real-life examples of how you can use the feature:

  • To avoid expensive parking
  • Work near your other commitments
  • Avoid busy roads or stations
  • Feel safer working later
  • To work around congestion charge zones

Can I use templates to change when and where I provide certain services?

Not for this version of templates - currently templates only apply for servicing different service areas at different times of the day.

However, it is possible and is on the team’s radar for future versions of the feature. Due to current priorities and limited resources, it won't be able to make it onto the roadmap until at least next year.

How can I use Templates to avoid congestion charge?

The congestion charge zones are separated out from the rest of the areas, so if you're driving and don't want to pay congestion, then make sure not to enter CGC North of River Thames, CGC South of River Thames, CGC City of London. You can go as close as Belgravia/Pimlico, which is it's own service area, without paying the congestion charge.
