How to respect your client’s boundaries during a booking
Clear, professional boundaries help create a safe, comfortable space – for both you and your client.
Boundaries go beyond the physical
They include how you speak, act and engage. Here’s how to maintain them at every stage of the booking:
1. Stay professional
You’re the expert – clients rely on your knowledge and care.
- Speak clearly and confidently
- Keep conversation calm, friendly and professional
- Focus on giving a safe, expert experience
2. Set clear expectations
- Introduce yourself and confirm the treatment
- Explain what will happen during the session
- Get informed consent before starting
- Keep the focus on the treatment
Avoid:
- Commenting on a client’s body, appearance, home or personal life
- Oversharing your own personal details
- Asking unrelated or intrusive questions
- Sharing your personal contact information
- Making suggestive jokes or remarks
3. Be mindful of touch
Some clients might not expect the level of contact certain treatments involve.
- Explain when and where you’ll need to touch
- Always ask before working on sensitive areas (e.g. glutes, stomach, upper chest)
- Avoid unnecessary contact
- Keep touch clearly professional – especially near intimate areas
Even if some of this feels obvious, it’s worth keeping top of mind. Blurred boundaries – even unintentionally – can lead to serious consequences, including removal from the platform
