Our recommendation

An osteopath is to your body what a mechanic is to a car. Great if you just want a thorough check to ensure your joints and muscles are in good working order, and even better if you’ve got a specific injury or issue you’d like help with.

Osteopathy focuses on the structure of the body – things like the musculoskeletal system, connective tissue and ligaments – to realign the entire body and minimise dysfunctions within it. Osteopaths work with people who experience chronic pain, have previous injuries or suffer from migraines to help relieve pain.

Urban osteopaths are all fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council. That means they’ve got a four- or five-year degree programme under their belt, and a minimum of a thousand hours of clinical training. You’re in good hands.

During your treatment

In this private consultation, live-streamed over two-way video, your osteopath will conduct a remote assessment of your musculoskeletal system and create a plan to address any issues that may be found. They’ll take a full detailed history, reviewing past and current symptoms, before sharing their recommendations, which may include specific exercises which they’ll also demonstrate.

Your osteopath may ask you to hop into leggings or sportswear so that a full postural assessment can be made, which involves observing how your whole body moves in relation to the problem area.

FAQ

Probably not for you if:

You’ve got a dodgy internet connection – you’ll need reliable wifi to communicate with your osteopath clearly.
