What is British Military Fitness?

A group training session run by a military-experienced instructor, British Military Fitness has clubs throughout the UK where you can workout with like-minded people. Helping people to be healthier and happier, they believe working out in a team is the best way to keep fit. The programmes include short runs, partner exercises, body-weight workouts and often kit classes. Kit classes use kettlebells, medicine balls, boxing kit and powerbags. Several BMF outposts also run running clubs and and themed sessions.

Kim from our Accounts Management team tried out a class. This is what she thought:

First you choose a ‘level’ you want to do: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each session lasts for one hour and includes a 5-10 minute warm up, 45-50 minutes of cardio and strength training, and a five-minute cool down with stretches. So at first, everyone does a warm up together and then each group gets its own instructor. I’ve always done the intermediate level, which was really fun but also a pretty good challenge. I love the mix between cardio and strength; so you do, for example, squats and push-ups but also go for short runs, sprints, do burpees etc.

I’ve done three classes so far, and it’s great to see that each single one was different to each other, so they really vary and it doesn’t get boring. What I also love is the great team spirit. You mainly work with one or two partners and everyone motivates each other which is cool and everyone also pushes you. I also love that the sessions take place outdoor in the parks, which is really nice after a long day at work sitting indoors in front of a computer screen. All in all, I loved it.
