Craig tried his first at home massage booked via Urban Massage to help him unwind as he tries to balance work and family life having also recently become a father. After his treatment we spoke to Craig about how he likes to relax, his workout routines and what he thought of his massage treatment.
Your website is all about style, but do you usually dress for comfort or style?
Personally I dress for comfort. If I don’t feel comfortable I don’t look comfortable. My daywear is usually a smart casual mix with classic sports sneakers. However, I do enjoy dressing up from time to time, whether it’s for an award ceremony or a dinner at a nice restaurant.
You run a successful business which must come with many stresses. Can you describe your work / life balance:
I’ve recently welcomed my baby daughter into the world so my work/life balance is being truly tested. I work 9-5pm so I make sure I have no distractions during those hours. I avoid face-to-face meetings and opt for Skype calls and emails instead. I also work in batches which helps me to speed up my productivity.
What are your favourite relaxation techniques?
I like to unwind by spending quality time with my daughter before she goes to bed. I then head to the gym and relax with my wife watching box sets. It’s a simple life but I like it.
Do you exercise regularly? If so can you tell us about your routine?
Yes I take part in weekly 5k parkruns at the weekend. I have a running stroller which makes it extra fun and little harder too. I mainly concentrate on cardio at the gym such as running machine and cycling machine. I also take part in pilates classes for my posture.
What do you wear to the gym?
I wear Skins compression tights under standard black running shorts and a gym t-shirt. I find I can run faster and for longer when wearing compression clothing. It’s really good for blood circulation and muscle recovery.
What’s your favourite healthy meal to eat?
My wife is super healthy and this is rubbing off on my lifestyle too. She’s often making dishes from Hemsley Hemsley cookbooks and we eat clean on a day-to-day basis. However, my big weak spot is apple crumble and custard.
Do you usually get massages?
My last massage was six months ago so I was definitely overdue one. I’m lucky that in my job I often review 5-star hotels which includes a spa package so I’m a back, neck and shoulder massage regular.
What did you think of your first Urban Massage?
It was really convenient to have a highly qualified and experienced massage therapist come to my house. All I had to do was move my dinning table to the corner of my room to make way for the massage table and grab a couple of towels from the bathroom. I’ll be using Urban Massage again for sure!
