In between performing pristine manicures, Urban nail pro Barbara F is studying for a BSc in forensic psychology and owns a record label with her partner. We caught up with her to hear how life is on the road after lockdown. 🏃
How are you finding life on the road now we’re getting back to (semi) normal?
It’s been nice, though at times challenging as public transport has changed a bit.
What treatments do you specialise in? Do you have a favourite?
I’m a manicurist and it’s is exactly what I love. The process for me is amazing and I usually get to chat to my clients which is lovely.
How do you prepare for a day of mobile clients?
I check my kit first thing in the day and make sure everything is sterilised and dusted and I hoover my kit bag. Next, I make sure my lamp is in working order and that all my PPE is up to date and compliant. I like to do lateral flow tests regularly too, for the safety of my family and clients.
Is there anything you do to help your clients feel comfortable in this strange climate?
I ensure I talk them through my PPE and clean my tools as I set up in front of them. I wash my hands as soon as I enter a clients home and take off my shoes – always speaking to them as I go so they know why too.
What do you normally do to relax after a day of clients?
I go home and have a nice shower to wash the day away. Then, when possible, spend time with my kids and have some time with my partner… there’s always a cheeky Netflix session.
What’s your favourite thing about what you do?
Meeting new people every day and generally getting to do what I love.
Is there anything we would we be surprised to know about you?
I have a record label with my partner and I’m currently doing a forensic psychology BSc from home.
